PETALING JAYA: Umno vice-president Khaled Nordin and supreme council member Johari Ghani have both successfully overturned defeats in 2018 by reclaiming Kota Tinggi and Titiwangsa respectively.
Khaled had suffered his first general election defeat in 2018 after falling to Hassan Abdul Karim of PKR in the battle for Pasir Gudang, Johor.
This time he defeated Onn Jaafar, also of PKR, polling 25,410 votes for a majority of 8,390.
In Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur, Johari successfully mounted a comeback by defeating Khalid Samad of Amanah, after having lost in 2018 to Rina Harun of Bersatu, then a member of PH.
Johari polled 25,042 votes to Khalid’s 20,410 while Dr Rosni Adam of Perikatan Nasional obtained 14,518 votes. Khairuddin Hassan of Pejuang trailed in with 888 votes.
