Johari: Don’t divide people with race politics

JOHOR BAHRU: Umno reminds political parties not to divide the people with race politics especially in constituencies like Pulai, where a significant Malay population resides.

“Instead, they should focus on issues that matter to the people rather than resorting to divisive tactics that exploit race or religion for political gain,” Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani said at the Orang Asli Seletar Laut village in Kampung Bakar Batu, in Perling, near here, today.

‘The dynamics of the political landscape have evolved, and it is imperative to explain the changing realities to voters, while leaders should adapt to the changing dynamics and engage in productive politics, he added.

Citing Pas as an example, Johari said despite its conservative background, the party has embraced dynamic politics, formed successful alliances and won in several states.

As the country’s political landscape is constantly evolving, adaptability and cooperation among political parties is required, said Johari.

“The focus should be on developing the country, rather than dividing society along racial or religious lines. Leaders must be forward-thinking and dynamic in their approach to governance,” he said.
